Congratulations to Dr. Stephanie Brooks for her completion of the Implant Dentistry Continuum! This October, she received her certificate of membership into the International Dental Implant Association. She will be completing Phase II of her advanced learning at the end of the year. She is excited to complete her training so she can join Dr. Martins in placing dental implants here at Brooks Dental.

Got Unused Benefits? It’s Time to Use Them

Although many businesses have reopened, life is far from “back to normal.” Even with the risk of COVID-19, there are necessary tasks we need to resume in order to stay healthy and to keep extra costs to a minimum.

Long before the pandemic, we took safety measures seriously. Now, more than ever before, we are closely monitoring and following guidelines from the CDC, OSHA, and Boston authorities to ensure a healthy environment for oral healthcare. In fact, there are very few places that are as safe as our office! If you were unable to visit us for preventive services because of COVID-19 and you’re overdue for an appointment, it’s time to get back on track.

Maximizing Your Benefits

If you’re like most families right now, you probably feel a financial pinch. Every dollar counts, and you want to make sure you get the most value for what you pay for. If you have paid your monthly premiums for dental insurance benefits, for instance, you’ll want to make sure you’re using your coverage in 2020 before it resets in January and you lose that money.

As a result of the pandemic, many insurance companies are relaxing some of their rules. For example, you may be able to complete your dental checkup and cleaning without waiting a full six months in between. This means that you could fit in another visit before the end of the year; otherwise, you forfeit that coverage. If you aren’t sure what your insurance allows, you can contact your insurance provider or give Kim a call at our office. We’ll be happy to guide you through this situation so that you receive the care you deserve.

Prioritizing Preventive Care

Have you heard the saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? That is definitely the case in dentistry! It is estimated that for every dollar spent on prevention, patients save between $8 and $50 on restorative or emergency care.

Although routine preventive care (i.e., checkups and cleanings) doesn’t seem exciting at first glance, these services play an essential role in protecting your smile and saving you money on your dental healthcare costs. Brushing and flossing at home, while effective and important, aren’t enough to keep cavities, gum disease, and other serious issues from causing damage. When you come into our office for preventive care, we can stop problems early and remove plaque and tartar to avoid future trouble.

Our family here at Brooks Dental wants to help you keep your smile bright and strong through these challenging times. Give us a call today to schedule your appointment!
