Howard D. Brooks, D.M.D.

After Dr. Brooks graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a BS in 1981, he attended Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry and received his DMD degree in 1987. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and The Winthrop Rotary Club; Club President 1993. He followed in his father's footsteps, also a dentist, who began this practice in 1959.

Dr. Brooks understands how dentistry continues to change and the importance of staying up-to-date. He attends continuing education courses each year so that he

can offer the latest dental procedures and the highest quality state-of-the-art dental materials for his patients in smile design, implants, root canals and periodontal therapy.

Every year, Dr. Brooks visits children from kindergarten to fourth grade in the Winthrop School System, educating them on the importance of dental health. Once a week for two months, Dr. Brooks discusses with the children the importance of caring for their teeth and gums. He uses the children as models to demonstrate brushing, flossing, and sealants. Discussion of nutrition and snacking properly also help get their dental experience off to a great start.

He was a past part-time faculty member of Boston University from 1989-1993, in which he participated in the Apex Program. Dr. Brooks mentored junior and senior dental students at his office; training them in patient management, leadership skills, dental materials, treatment procedures, dental assisting, and front office business decisions.

Dr. Brooks grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School. He loves Winthrop for the ocean, beaches, and its wonderful community. He has been married for 27 years to Debby, and together they have three children, David, 21, Stephanie, 20, and Leah, 16. He loves to spend time with his family, and enjoys skiing, exercising, golfing, fishing, and coaching both of his daughters' softball teams.

Barry M. Brooks, D.D.S. Dr. Barry Brooks started this practice in 1959 in his hometown of Winthrop. He graduated from Loyola Dental School in Chicago in 1957 at the top of his class. Dr. Brooks spent two years in the Army Dental Corps honing his skills and then began his dental practice. He did his undergraduate studies at Harvard College, Class of 1953. Dr. Brooks’ hobbies include collecting, reading, skiing, movies, traveling, and sharing time with his wonderful wife of 50 plus years, Elly.
